Seit dem letzten Buch der Lux Serie sind einige Jahre vergangen und wir haben ein Wiedersehen mit alten Bekannten. Diesmal geht es um Luc.Erzählt wird die Geschichte aus Evie's Perspektive, wie sie Luc in seinem Club kennenlernt, in dem am gleichen Abend eine Razzia stattfindet um nicht registrierte Luxen aufzuspüren.Diese Sequenz, und eine paar andere Informationen, wie die Luxen nun behandelt werden, haben einen sehr bitteren Beigeschmack und lassen Parallelen zu den Anfängen der 1930er Jahre zu.In kleinen Häppchen finden wir heraus warum sich Luc gegenüber Evie verhält, wie er es tut. Die Story ist, wie immer, spannend geschrieben und komplex. Handlungsstränge werden mit Szenen aus den Lux-Büchern verbunden. Also sollte man diese vorher gelesen haben. Ich musste teilweise überlegen worauf angespielt wird.Eine Grundlage für die nächsten Teile ist gelegt und ich prophezeie einen Befreiungskampf gegen die Unterdrückung/Verfolgung/Internierung der Luxen.
Es war schön, ein paar Charaktere von der ganzen Obsidian/Onyx/Opal/Opposition... Reihe wiederzusehen, auch wenn sie nur ganz am Rande eine Rolle spielen, denn es geht ja um Luc.Die Reihe hatte ich komplett verschlungen und vielleicht deswegen auch hohe Ansprüche an dieses Buch, was wahrscheinlich auch wegen dieser Ansprüche nicht super sein konnte. Ich fand einen zentralen Punkt der Story komplett unlogisch, was das ganze Buch etwas kaputt gemacht hat, auch wenn es immer noch eine gute Lektüre war.

Funny, lovely written- a typical Jennifer L. Armentrout novel!
I was so excited when The Darkest Star was announced since I always wanted to know more about Luc and his story and this book did not disappoint. It was so interesting to see what happened after the Lux books ended and how the world coped with the Aliens.Jennifer just writes the best sassy characters and I laughed so much during Evie and Luc‘s faceoffs. It made the book so fun to read. The sass blended together with the action that kept you on your feet, for real I thought it was all done to only then get thrown back into it, and the overall plot with so many twists made this book so addicting. I couldn‘t put it down cause I just had to know what was going to happen and the writing style was also so addicting with the perfect flow to it.My favorite thing besides all that sass was to see the relationship between Evie and Luc evolve. I loved their dynamic from the first meeting and it only kept getting better the more they hung out together. And lemme tell ya those two together are just cuteness overload with a lot of bickering.Luc was still as infuriating as before and you cannot not love his arguments. It was just so cute how he cared for Evie through the book and it was great to see this side of him more.Evie is just super loveable and how she didn‘t take any bull that Luc threw her way was so fun to read. Also I related to her a great deal and totaly understood her view and love for photography cause it‘s the same for me.Another huge plus of this book was to see Daemon and Archer again and man did I miss those two. I really hope we‘ll get to see the rest of the gang in the next book.I do have to say I did see the huge plot twist coming from the beginning of the book but I did not see it coming how it all played out. And also the end just really kept me on my toes and I can‘t wait to see how it will all play out. And the story had just so many twists and turns to it that I definitely did not see coming and had me really shocked.So all in all this was a great start to a new series and also a great spinoff of the Lux books. You will definitely love it as much as the Lux books and it‘s just an amazing paranormal book itself.
